Following the Boooksprint adventure at the end of 2016, everyone had returned to their occupations and missions in the 4 corners of France. To formalize the Agile Rocket Guide to the community, we decided to mark the occasion by organizing a special evening on January 31, 2017 at the premises of Good. Our ambition is to revive the Boooksprint atmosphere and share our learnings.
A very special event therefore in the presence of the 5 Boooksquetaires (Arnaud Gervais, Christophe Keromen, Gregory Alexander, Julien Porot and myself) in full with the program:
- A musical reading entitled "little paws" by Frédéric Brown by Christophe (voice) and Olivier (keyboard)
- 5 facets of a common experience, a look back at a Breton boooksprint
and of course a closing buffet to exchange in a friendly atmosphere! 😉
Here's a quick rundown!
Recreate the atmosphere
We wanted to immerse the participants in the atmosphere from the start. We could then as soon as we entered the premises hear the sound of the sea and the seagulls, moreover, we even had to catch a few in passing to share this moment with us! 😉
Before the official start, copies (printed for the occasion) of the Agile Rocket Guide circulated, arousing interest and curiosity!
You can download version 1.1 in the format pdf Or epub.
“Nimble Paws” by F. Brown
But what is a musical reading?
As its name suggests, it is above all a reading, with background music (live or recorded) to give color and character.
Why this choice to introduce the evening?
In fact, we had already discussed this possibility last year with Christophe without having found an opportunity to do so. He had already presented this text at Agile France 2015 but accompanied by an audio recording.
It was during our end of PI #1, in a moment of relaxation sprinkled with Arnaud and Julien, that we embarked on an improvisation around this reading: Christophe on the voice, and myself on the piano. What better way to start the evening than to share this atypical intimate moment experienced during our adventure? 😉
Note: If you are interested in this type of animation, I invite you to go see the Facebook page of Christophe created for this purpose.
Feedback: 5 complementary facets
For these feedbacks, we had agreed on a duration of 10 minutes each to keep the exercise short and efficient.
The order of appearance and the themes were as follows:
- Why a booksprint?
Christophe recounts the experience of his previous booksprint (A Short Guide to Lean Management for Agile Teams) and the similarities with that of the Boooksquetaires.
- Relive the boooksprint experience
Through a video, the participants were able to dive into the heart of our boooksprint, with its moments of doubt and its moments of outbursts! 😉
You can find the video below.
- Find your place in a group
Julien shares here a very personal subject. His experience has not always been easy: he then talks about self-confidence, relationship to writing, respect and group dynamics.
- Boooksprint remotely
Grégory had a very specific experience: he spent half of the adventure remotely. He tells us in a simple and pragmatic way what he experienced by drawing a parallel with the situations of distributed teams in the field.

- A true Agile adventure
Arnaud describes the Boooksprint to us from the angle of the Agile Manifesto. It thus goes through the 12 underlying principles and highlights the concrete examples allowing us to characterize our adventure as truly “Agile”.

Note: Not having prepared our returns jointly, this was also an opportunity for us to discover different perspectives of the adventure. Winks, anecdotes and thanks that brought smiles and emotions to our Boooksquetaires!

Conclusion
This evening was above all a great moment of reunion and sharing with the community. I believe that we succeeded in organizing a high quality event, in our image, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The exchanges with the participants were rich and intense (perhaps helped by Julien's house punch! ;-P) with a full house of around fifty people.
Following a discussion with Julien on the way back, I realized that the result of this Boooksprint was not only the Agile Rocket Guide but also all the links forged with this group of people, which became more than simple colleagues.
So, once again, thank you to all the participants for sharing this moment of celebration with us! And to you, Boooksquetaires, for this exceptional experience in your company! 🙂
